Wild Child in God’s Acre
Growing a little wilder, one season at a time.
Wild Child in God’s Acre is an ongoing project to nurture and celebrate the beautiful natural spaces surrounding our church and graveyard — creating a place where wildlife, wildflowers and people can flourish together.
God’s Acre has always been more than a burial ground. It is a peaceful, living landscape, rich with history, memory and nature. Through the Wild Child project, we are looking at ways to care for this special place while allowing parts of it to become a little wilder.
From planting native flowers and creating habitats for insects and birds, to caring for existing trees, hedgerows and meadow areas, each small change helps to encourage greater biodiversity and reconnect us with the natural world around us.
This page will become a living record of the project, where we will share photographs, seasonal updates, new planting, wildlife discoveries and the different improvements taking place throughout God’s Acre.
Some changes will be immediately visible, while others will quietly develop over months and years. We hope it will be lovely to look back and watch the landscape gradually evolve.
At the heart of Wild Child in God’s Acre is a simple idea: to care for what has been entrusted to us, while making a little more room for nature.
