A new space for our parish. A place for our community.
Something new is taking shape at St Patrick’s Powerscourt.
The Nest is our new parish and community building, created alongside our much-loved church to give us something we have needed for many years: a warm, bright and welcoming space where people can come together.
It will be a place for friendship and fellowship, for children and families, for creativity and learning, for quiet moments and lively gatherings — and a place where the wider community is as welcome as our own parish family.
At the heart of The Nest is a simple idea: church is about more than a building. It is about people, belonging and community.

Why “The Nest”?
A nest is a place of welcome, shelter and belonging. It is somewhere life is nurtured, relationships grow and, eventually, people are encouraged to spread their wings.
That feels very much like what we hope this new space will become.
A place to gather.
A place to belong.
A place to grow.
Why are we building it?
For generations, St Patrick’s has stood at the heart of Powerscourt and Enniskerry. But while our beautiful church is an extraordinary place of worship, it was never designed to accommodate all the other ways in which parish and community life happens today.
We asked a simple question:
What if we had a different kind of space — bright, warm, accessible and welcoming — into which we could invite not only our own parish groups, but the wider community too?
The Nest is our answer.
It gives us the opportunity to extend the welcome of St Patrick’s beyond Sunday worship and create a place that can be used throughout the week.
What will happen in The Nest?
We envisage The Nest becoming home to parish gatherings, children’s activities, Sunday Club, talks and workshops, music, community groups, coffee mornings, celebrations, pastoral activities and opportunities simply to meet one another.
Some things will be familiar. Others will grow organically as people begin to use the space. We are building the space now. The community will help shape what it becomes. Built beside history, looking to the future
There is something particularly special about creating The Nest beside St Patrick’s. The church carries the stories of generations who came before us. The Nest represents our responsibility to make sure that this remains a living, welcoming place for the generations still to come. It is not replacing what we have.
It is allowing it to grow.
